The Lil Flea ...

“Better late than never.”
And so rightly said here’s the post on my last year’s (in December to be precise) experience at Mumbai’s own one of a kind weekend flea market, The Lil Flea at the Reclamation grounds, Bandra.
To start with, The Lil Flea is all about art with a perspective, the pulsating creativity and free well. If you are the kind of shopaholic who thinks there is nothing quite as exciting as coming home with a bag of quirky, one-of-a-kind goodies then The Lil Flea is just the place for you. With the mention of a flea market, the term conjures up images of beach side markets across globe with vibrant colors all over, selling some of the most wonderful and enticing knick knacks.
You simply cannot avoid this one !!!
What made me Happy here ??? DREAMCATCHERS ♥
In order to quench the shopping needs of the city's fashion enthusiasts, The Lil Flea is a one-stop destination for the choicest products from various brands spanning across fashion, jewellery, home decor and lifestyle whilst keeping up with latest trends. Colourful tents with fun drapes and lamps, umbrellas hanging upside down, ladder installations with lights and Christmas goodies uplifting the space and giving it a nice cool vibe, pop-up shops showcasing a variety of items such as clothes, footwear, bags, accessories, handicraft, artifacts, arts & craft, antiques, home décor, and the concept of exchanging old books in lieu of another book at free will, that’s something I experienced for the first time and loved the idea. But unlike any other pop-up exhibition selling only merchandise, the flea also had a vibrant pop-up cafe with dozens of booths offering a number of cuisines and street food.
Posing time ... This mint green ladder & these cute jars instantly attracted me !
This cute girl ... I wish I could become a kid again ♥
Making a wish ... At the Secret Santa Tree ♥
Super cute Christmas decorations !!!
The Lil Flea market is definitely not one of the cliche' exhibitions with only merchandise on offer. The Lil Flea has a fun central flea square, right in the middle of the flea - open music zone showcasing live band performances by some local coolest up and coming singers and song writers through the day. The pathways and the layout were such that you can have the freedom to enjoy your time looking at pretty corners, or relax on benches spread throughout the flea to park your shopping bags and grab a bite. You can take a time out and go about clicking snaps and selfies with the number of props and artifacts kept around. I personally loved it. Also you can chill out at the café area sitting on the ground sipping away your cooler, or participate in a smattering of cool and fun workshops, for instance the dream-catcher workshop was just way too cool.

♥ Frame Work ♥
Fun with Caricature
These people were awesome !! Especially that little girl !!!
Much needed picture !
Which one would you pick ??
In a nutshell, The Lil Flea offered a lovely setting for the market, an ideal destination for collectors, bargain hunters, music aficionados and fashion enthusiast Mumbaikars who want to soak up the atmosphere.
Don't Forget to Live your DREAMS

Oh !!! And just to let you know ! The Lil Flea is happening right now, so make sure to visit them !!

Flower Power ... The First Step !

I love photography ... I am not the best at it but I love it !
Few months back in a Photography Seminar I met a veteran photographer. He showed us his pictures and it felt that we were really there. They were more than real ! When we asked him which camera he used !
We were shocked to hear his answer ... Those picture were clicked from a film camera ... OMG !
 ...Hats off to him ...

During the seminar we met many other veteran photographers and one common thing that they told us was, you all are photographers if you use a camera !
But if you want to be the best and bring life to your pictures just PRACTICE.
They said that FLOWERS are those objects that are most EASY & DIFFICULT to photograph, so always start by clicking pictures of flowers.

When I was in Jaipur I was surrounded by flowers from all side and that was the best time to improve upon my skills.
I clicked tons of pictures and here is a collage of the best ones.

... ENJOY ...

"Bright Lights ( Fly )"
by
Alex Goot

Never mind, never mind things are good again,
I took the time, in my life, to figure it out,
And I wont let, I can’t let real life bring me down, down, down,

‘Cos I could run,
Across the world,

And everywhere I go,
I see my name in bright lights,
If I keep it up I know that I could fly,
I feel like it’s a good life,
And when I feel it most I feel like I could fly,
I could fly,
Yeah

I get away, get away, when I need it most
‘Cos I could find, I could find, myself outta time
Of the shapes and the lines that I draw in my mind, mind, mind,

I’ve got to run,
Before its too late,

And everywhere I go,
I see my name in bright lights,
If I keep it up I know that I could fly,
I feel like it’s a good life,
And when I feel it most I feel like I could fly,
I could fly,
Yeah

Bright lights in my eyes for the first time, (I watch you burn up in your atmosphere)
Bright lights in my eyes for the second time, (I watch you burn up in your atmosphere)

And everywhere I go,
I see my name in bright lights,
If I keep it up I know that I could fly,
I feel like it’s a good life,
And when I feel it most I feel like
Everywhere I go,
I see my name in bright lights,
If I keep it up I know that I could fly,
I feel like it’s a good life,
And when I feel it most (oh I feel it most)
Yeah I feel it most,
I feel like I could fly,
I could fly,
Yeah

Letter to Mother from an ADHD child / adult ! (Part 2)

A few minutes back I published a post about a letter to a mother from her ADHD child / adult
http://aasthachaturvedi.blogspot.in/2012/08/letter-to-mother-from-adhd-child-adult.html

I read a book long back and there were some parts of it which really touched my heart and so did this poem!

Being a psychology student I have some knowledge about ADHD and so I could understand this poem better and understand the feeling behind it. But that's not the point, I am sure each and everyone who reads the poem will understand the feel that lies beneath.

Letter to Mother from an ADHD child / adult ! (Part 1)

Mother,

I whirled faster than the other little ones
Even when I was inside,
Making you go in a tizzy and wonder,
How you would keep stride
When I came in this world,
Happily you put me in the cradle
I squirmed my way out,
You were horrified to see me tumble.

As a toddler, I climbed railings
And jumped to fly like an Eagle,
Your heart stopped beating, as I lost two front teeth
And was in a utter mangle.
You started anticipating my moves,
To protect me from future damage,
Trying to teach me impulse control,
So that I can cope and manage.

Then came a time when I stepped out
Into the outside world, without you in my tow,
I saw tears in your eyes while letting go,
But to social diktats you had to bow,
Here I was assigned a place to sit,
Asked to walk in a line, and wait for my turn,
Others my age did it, but I couldn't,
With unshed tears my eyes began to burn.

That day I realized I was different;
I couldn't do things that were simple for another,
But the thought din't stay with me for long;
As usual it wandered all over,
You tried hard to inculcate in me

The skills of listening, sitting and paying attention,
But this was tough for me;
As I only knew movement, activity and motion.

At times you felt like giving up,
But if you wouldn't then who would,
Knowing this you got up,
Helping me as much as you could,
As I grew up there were significant others too
Who tried to help and teach,
It wasn't easy for anyone to work with a fidgety child,
But yet the tried to reach.

Then the journey began,
Of discovering my true potential, which was dormant,
Unlearning and modifying behaviors
And making appropriate behavior permanent,
You were taught too,
About home management and behavior management,
I got a new name, ADHD
This was my new identity, my new classification.

Today as an adult, I know how to manage;
I invest all my energy in work,
I work long and hard,
am never known to evade duty or responsibility shrink,
But as I look back I wonder how
You bore all the suffering,
Mother, thank you for being there,
You were my silent blessing.

This is a poem from a book called "Taming the Tornado : A Parental Manual to Manage the ADHD Child" by "Samindara Hardikar-Sawant"

Inspiring ME

Life keeps changing every moment. We are happy now, you never know you might be sad within a moment  . When I say the or see or write the word HAPPY, it brings a smile to my face similarly when I do the the same with the word SAD my expressions change !!!

We all have good & bad times in life ! And every time, we always have that one person that supports us & brings that smile back !!! but what if that person is not around you. Obviously everyone would say I'll call him or her. What if they don't pick your call or if you can't call them !!! This isn't stupid !!! My mom is out of town & I am a person who talks alot. Past a few months I started sharing everything with my mom. Today when she is not around me I simply call her but still feel it would have been better if she was here.

Suddenly last night I realised that I always don't need someone to give me support & motivation when I am sad ! I realised that when I look at some words, they instantly make me happy ! So I decided to write down these words in different colours ( I love things colourful ) & pin it to my bulletin board ! My bulletin board is that one place where I always want to see things I love !!!

I not onlly pinned those words but also some fun smiley badges, post cards of disney princess & alot more !!! I am still working on it so the picture will be up soon in a few days.

Till then be Happy ... Get Inspired & Inspire others !!!

xoxo
